Slot Asserts He Is Secure and Has Liverpool's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot admitted that it was natural for doubts to be asked about his future following a further convincing defeat against the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their 9th defeat in 12 games, marking the club's worst run after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I have got plenty of backing from above,” Slot remarked.

“It's important to turn it around and earn three points of course but if you are in a managerial role and struggling then it's typical that people question you.”

He added, “I am OK with my situation. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Club Management

When asked to elaborate on his dialogues with the team officials, the head coach revealed:

“We talk a lot. They assist to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me constantly of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “In the normal exchanges I sense the trust. But I haven’t spoken to them after this match so far so we'll see.”

Recurring Failings and Player Response

Slot lamented familiar failings from his team in their Champions League defeat, specifically wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his view of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder stated.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don't need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond being angry inside. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the words.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I play for the side I follow. I support them, and I've watched this club for years.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side enduring a spell such as this with performances like these.”

He stated, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our chest. And as long as that badge is taken away, we will always compete.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad back to its rightful place, prove again the values of this club and why it's known as the best team in the planet.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
